DIY HOUSEHOLD CLEANER
I have some issues. Some people might say I have a LOT of issues, lol, but right now I am going to talk about artificial fragrances (which I am super sensitive to) and the overuse of plastics. I mean, there is a pile of plastic floating in the ocean that is the size of Mexico! This is beyond tragic and I am willing to do what I can do to greatly reduce my participation in the use of plastics.
So, in this article, I am going to share a few of my favorite homestead made recipes for household cleaners. I have been reusing bottles that I already had but once the sprayers stop I will probably have to figure something else out. One thing for sure is that I wont be buying new plastic bottles every time I run out of a cleaner.
Benefits of DIY Cleaners
- Less packaging waste. You’re not buying new bottles over and over
- Less expensive
- Not harmful to humans, animals and the earth
- Homemade natural cleaners can have customized scents or be fragrance-free
All Purpose Cleaner
This recipe makes a wonderfully aromatic all purpose cleaner that helps disinfect as well. I use it for just about everything that needs a quick wipe down… cupboards, counter tops, stovetops, refrigerator, walls, whatever is needed.
INGREDIENTS
You will need some containers to begin with all of which can be reused. A spray bottle, a large jug or bucket and a jar with a tight fitting lid. So with that, let’s get started.
One Part White Vinegar and One Part Water
5 Drops Tea Tree Oil
10 Drops Rosemary Essential Oil
6 Drops Sage Essential Oil
3 Drops Grapefruit Essential Oil
Place ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well. Label as All Purpose Cleanser.
Window and Glass Cleaner
INGREDIENTS
Mix 1/4 cup vinegar with enough water to fill a spray bottle. Yep, it is that easy.
Spray sparingly and wipe.
